The Humboldt Unitarian Universalist Fellowship wishes Rev. Bryan and Edie Jessup a fulfilling and enjoyable new phase of life as Bryan retires as of June 30, 2019. We have unanimously made Bryan Minister Emeritus in gratitude and recognition of both his and Edie’s place in the beloved community they helped create.
We are pleased to welcome Anthony Johnson as our new Minister beginning July 1, 2019. Anthony and his wife Lydia Munoz Johnson will be moving to Arcata in late July. As is standard UU practice, he will be on vacation for July and have a study month during the month of August; however they will join us at the Fellowship retreat August 2-4. Anthony will participate in the Gathering of the Waters service on September 8 and lead his first service on September 15 at 10:00 AM.
If you would like to know more about our new minister, we recommend you explore his website where you can see pictures, read his resumes, watch videos of him giving workshops and sermons, and view some testimonies of UU dignitaries singing his praise. It will give you the best understanding of him until you can meet him yourself. The website is: an-johnson.com.
The Johnsons were able to visit us before they made their final decision to choose HUUF and to have Humboldt as their new home. It was a heart-warming and affirming experience for all who met them – including Rev.Bryan and Edie Jessup – and we are confident our members and friends, and the wider community, will feel the same way when we welcome them later this summer.
My call to Ministry is not mine, as I am not listening to a call, as much as I feel like I am allowing myself to honor the pull of something much stronger than I and which started long before I ever showed up. ~ Anthony Johnson.
