From Reverend Anthony Johnson

Reverend Bryan JessupGreetings and Blessings to you all. I am excited and honored to be your new Minister. I am impressed by your unique history, vibrant community and commitment to social justice.

I believe that Unitarian Universalism is a life-saving and transformational faith, a faith open to and respectful of all faiths. I think that our time needs UU values now more than ever—both in spirit and in action. I strive to bring a big heart, an inspirational voice and a courageous call for justice to every aspect of my ministry.

My wife Lydia and I are grateful for the warm welcome we have received upon our arrival in Humboldt County. Prior to ministry, I had a 30-year career in the television and film industry. I was a producer and post-production manager for major network news organizations including ABC-News and also held the position of Director of production and operations for Black Entertainment Television (BET) cable network. Before that, I was manager of Corporate Video for Abbott Laboratories and a computer animation producer for IBM. I spent five years in the U.S. Army producing military training films and interactive videodiscs and left the military with the rank of Captain.

I completed a year of congregational field-work at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Sacramento, I also served as Intern Minister at the Sedona Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Sedona, AZ. and most recently served as Director for Congregational Life at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Phoenix, in Paradise Valley, Arizona. I received my Master of Divinity degree from Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, California.

Lydia and I together have a blended family that includes four children and five wonderful grandkids. We enjoy entertaining, reading out loud to each other and travel.

I look forward to sharing stories and charting a bold path for our transformative future together.
