6pm-7pm Panel Discussion on Humboldt’s local food system
Over the past nine years, Locally Delicious has raised over $115,000 for Food for People to contract with more than 30 local organic farmers with the goal of ensuring low-income community members have access to fresh, healthy, local food through the food bank.
Start your weekend by joining us to enjoy local wine and cheese and by getting to know many of the people in local government and others working to improve our food system.
A panel of local food equity advocates will address the benefits of the Farmer Fund to the community and how our robust local food system improves our economy, equity, and the environment in Humboldt County. Bring your comments and questions!
Senator Mike McGuire has been invited to address statewide issues.
Panel members:
- Ann Anderson, Locally Delicious
- Anne Holcomb, Food for People
- Martha Shanahan, St Joseph Community Health (invited)
- Ben Kaplan-Good, Farmer
- Susan Ornelas, Arcata City Council
- Leslie Castellano, Eureka City Council
- Mike Wilson, Humboldt County Board of Supervisors
It’s not too late to donate this year! You can donate to the Locally Delicious-Food for People Farmer Fund at locally-delicious.org/food-for-people-fund/ or foodforpeople.org/locally-delicious. Be sure to designate your donation as for the Farmer Fund. Our goal is to reach $135,000 by the end of our 10th year.
