Our Staff
Lay-Minister: Amy Day
Amy grew up, the granddaughter of Baptist missionaries, deeply wedded to the spiritual life, yet always longing for the type of faith and community that felt more expansive, inclusive and rooted in the values of social justice. In 2019, she came to the Fellowship, to serve in the Religious Exploration program, and has continued to step forward as her call to serve here has deepened. She holds a background and training as a theater artist, 15+ year yoga teacher and devotee, and as a clinical herbalist, as well. She is deeply passionate about creating opportunities for collective healing & regeneration – through ritual, service, community building, and beyond. When she’s not burying her nose in a book, she can be found traipsing through the woods by her house with her husband, teenage daughter and a cheeky, black lab.
Congregational Administrator: Rebekah Paez
With over a decade of administrative experience, Rebekah brings a steady hand and a warm heart to her work at HUUF. A member of the Fellowship since 2017, she is grounded, thoughtful, and deeply community-minded, helping create a space where people feel seen, supported, and connected. When not wrangling spreadsheets or coordinating community events, Rebekah enjoys game nights with friends, nurturing her ever-growing collection of houseplants, and occasionally indulging in a well-timed pun. She’s also a proud parent, always learning from the adventure of raising her son.
Fellowship Engagement Coordinator: Tiffany Hess
Tiffany Hess is deeply fulfilled by connection and service. She has been involved in social action and community care since she was able. HUUF enriches her and her Beloveds and delights in uplifting each of our good works. She hopes to be a cord that helps to make the beautiful music we expand in, with Love always at the center. Tiffany lives with her magical daughters and fur babies, making art and collecting forest bits.
Music Ministry
Pianist: Annette Gurnée Hull
Annette Gurnée Hull has a degree in music from Humboldt State University where she studied piano with Charles Fulkerson while also studying violin and viola with Floyd Glende. She is retired from the accompanying staff of HSU, and has been teaching piano privately for over 40 years. She has been an accompanist and performer for many Humboldt Light Opera musicals and operas, and Handel’s “Messiah.” In 2001, she and Nancy Correll teamed up on the piano and created PianoVoce. Over the years they have donated their piano duo concerts to many worthy causes. Annette has been a member of HUUF since 1957 or so. She can’t remember, she was only 2.
Choir Director: MJ Fabian
MJ is a local musician and teacher who performs with the Eureka Symphony Orchestra, the Mosaic Vocal Ensemble, the Humboldt Calypso Band, and more. As the HUUF Choir Director, MJ welcomes everyone who wishes to sing, regardless of previous musical experience. Whether you’re an experienced singer or a beginner, your voice and presence are valued here.
Community Song Leader: Maggie McKnight
Maggie grew up playing classical music and singing folk songs with her family. As an adult, she discovered Community Singing, in which songs are taught orally (no sight-reading required) and simple parts are layered to create beautiful music on the spot. It is her heartfelt belief that everyone can sing, and that when we sing together we can heal our own spirits and create a container for changing the world. After directing the Arcata Threshold Choir and Humboldt SINGS for 8 years, Maggie joined HUUF as Community Song Leader in 2024. She plays violin with the Thursday Evening Waltz Society and lives in Sunny Brae with her wife, two daughters, a variety of animals, and many fruit trees.
