The Dances for Universal Peace had their beginnings in the late 1960s. This service will begin with their origin story and carry that through in discussion to the present time. This will be followed with several of the dances, as the practice is experiential in nature. Congregants will be invited to participate, if they so desire. This will be accompanied by live music.
Our speaker will be Latif Burdick, a leader of the local group which meets at our Fellowship on the first Sunday of each month. Latif has been working with the Dances of Universal Peace and related practices from the Universal Sufi tradition since 1978. He leads dances and well as being a support guitarist for many dance leaders and retreat programs across the country. He will be joined by his beloved wife, Pegeen, who has been leading the dances for many years as well.
