Every year during this season, we are confronted by the maelstrom of holidays (once “holy days”) represented in the dominant culture. Yet how are we to engage with these in a way that aligns with our UU values and faith? On this day, we will be honored by a visit from some of our local Indigenous leaders, who will share stories, perspectives, songs, and rituals that hold meaning to the Native ways of giving thanks and centering their stories. They will encourage us to celebrate in a way that moves beyond the colonial narrative and into one of abundance for all.
