“Group singing is a powerful catalyst for social change and community building. We sing for the joy of creating something beautiful together in the moment.” Maggie McKnight
Community song circles welcome all voices, bringing together people who love to sing, regardless of experience level. Song circles don’t focus on performing for an audience; instead, learn songs from a variety of traditions by call-and-response, and sing for the joy of creating something beautiful together in the moment. Group singing is a powerful way of connecting with each other, and with something deep within ourselves—and the music we make as we support each other through song call forth the singing voice that is every human’s birthright. Our Whole Lives (OWL) offers older adults a respectful, affirming setting for reflection and conversation about sexuality and aging.
OWL Sexuality Education for Older Adults is a comprehensive and progressive curriculum, addressing sexuality with candor, sensitivity, and respect for older adults’ wisdom and life experience. It is engaging, thought-provoking, and deeply meaningful. In 14 engaging two-hour workshops, this curriculum balances knowledge-building with exploration of attitudes, values, and feelings about one’s own and others’ sexuality. Workshops include alternate activities and multimedia resources to accommodate participants’ needs and interests.
Workshop Syllabus (View Short Descriptions for Each Workshop)
• Sexuality and Values
• Attitudes about Aging
• Examining Sexual Scripts
• The Sexual Body
• Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity
• Intimacy
• Sexual Consent and Boundaries
• Family Matters
• Sexuality and Loss
• Reframing Sexuality, Disability, and Chronic Illness
• Body Image
• Dating as an Older Adult
• Safer Sex
• Sex Play beyond Basics
Grounded in our UU values of trust and shared growth, this OWL series is offered as a closed group from March through May. Because the curriculum builds over time and includes sensitive material, participants are asked to commit to the full series. Our goal is a circle of about 16 participants.
In the spirit of shared stewardship and equity, we are asking for a sliding scale contribution.
• Supported Tier: $0–$75 (for those with financial need);
• Sustainer Tier: $150–$250 (the standard rate);
• Community Builder Tier: $300–$400 (for those able to help fund scholarships).
Participants are invited to choose the level that best reflects their resources; no one will be turned away for lack of funds, and payment plans are available upon request. Registration is complete once your form is submitted and payment is made.
View registration form and payment options.
Pay with Venmo: @HUUF- (include OWL in the note).
Check or cash: Make checks payable to HUUF, include OWL in the memo. Place cash in an envelope with your name and ‘OWL’. Drop off in the Sunday offering baskets or mail to: HUUF, PO Box 506, Bayside, CA 95524.
