Sunday, October 17 at 11 a.m.

Often in times of trouble we call out in hopes there is some “One” beyond us that might help. Then, crisis over, we go back to our everyday life never looking back. This pattern doesn’t work well in these days of constant crisis. Is there any One to call out to? Inspired by the Soul Matters topic “Cultivating Relationship,” Bonnie, Laura and other HUUF members will lead us up to the edge of that question: Is there a God/Ultimate Source/Higher Power? Can we cultivate a relationship with this Power/Spirit? What can this look like?

Laura Phelan-Shahin, the mother of two young children, is a marriage and family therapist for whom cultivating and healing relationships is her life work. Bonnie MacGregor is a lifelong spiritual explorer and practitioner close to the end of her life span. This exploration matters greatly to them both.

Sunday, October 24 at 11 a.m.

Welcome to our first official All Ages Sunday.
In this dynamic, multi-dimensional and intergenerational space, we will look at how we, as families, householders and ordinary individuals, can conduit great changes in our world. Together, with guidance from the great folks at the North Coast Environmental Center, we will look at ways people of all sizes and from all walks of life can be a part of the healing of our planet and our culture in ways both ordinary and profound.

Creativity with Laura Phelan-Shahin, LMFT

TONIGHT! Friday, October 15 @ 7pm

Join Laura on ZOOM for an open (to all!) circle which can include a guided meditation or somatic check-in.  Through prompts, multiple mediums, and gentle guidance, participants are invited to explore process over product, and to use this playful and generative time as a way to access their own inner wisdom and guidance.

We invite adults and older-age children to come join us in this healing and connective space.

Plan to bring some of the following materials: watercolor paper, writing paper, collage material (i.e. magazines), glue, scissors, watercolors, markers/colored pencils/oil pastels, black outlining pen (like a sharpie or micron pen), and any other supplies that inspire.

Do you have a skill or idea for group exploration you’d like to share?

Fellowship Engagement is actively seeking facilitators for:
Book groups, discussion circles, creative explorations, mutual aid & support work.

You are invited to add to the health & vibrancy of our beloved community!

In the past, volunteers have offered circles on..
*Anti-racism & Allyship work
*Writing
*Creativity
*Spiritual Practice
*Yoga & Wellness
No expertise needed.
Just a desire to share with others in an open-hearted & collective learning environment.
email comm@huuf.org to share your ideas with us!

HUUF CLIMATE ACTION CAMPAIGN

CLIMATE ACTION OF THE MONTH   ~
 October’s “ACTION”  is Water Conservation

Each American uses an average of 80-100 gallons of water per day at home
(USGS, Estimated Use of Water in the United States).

This week, focus on
saving water with personal hygiene:
Don’t let that precious water run down the drain!

  • Turn off the water while brushing your teeth
  • Capture all the clean running water wasted while waiting for the hot water to heat up – Use what you collect to water plants, flush a toilet, or for whatever else you can think of!
  • Consider shorter showers and fewer showers. Periodically, take a sponge bath instead of showering.
How much can you and your family conserve if you put you mind to it?
The more we do together the bigger impact we’ll have overall. Soon these small changes will become habits that you won’t have to think about! Together we can help mitigate the consequences of climate change.

You are invited to let the CAC know how your doing with your conservation efforts email Margy Emerson: margaretemerson@att.net
