Community Grief Ritual and Workshops: Community Grief Tending Art Ritual

Date/Time
Date(s) - 10/19/2024
2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Art and ceremony can serve as a medium to allow us to encounter potent topics giving rise to an emergence of collective strength and transformation. When we take pause, deeply honor our feelings and tears, new insights and possibilities can ignite. Healing can occur.

Arrive at 2pm and you will be welcomed inside for a short somatic grounding and water ritual. We will then begin with orienting our intentions and to Francis Weller’s five gates of grief. We will share in a writing practice to express and honor the grief that we carry and offer these expressions at the five altars to the gates of grief. There will be opportunity to silently witness and thank each other for the collective sharing. After a short break, we will reconnect at 3:30 for an eco-psychological grief practice as we build a beautiful flower mandala together. If you would like to share an honoring image of your departed loved one as part of the mandala cyanotype, please contact us ahead of time for how to do so. The space holders for this event are Vida Hofweber (Somatic therapist), Amy Day (Spiritual Director at HUUF), and Alissa Pattison (Ecopsychologist-in-training and Flower Farmer/Land Steward).
