We gather to celebrate Lughnasadh, an ancient Celtic celebration of the harvest, observed throughout Ireland, Scotland, and the Isle of Mann for centuries and long before the coming of Christianity. This is a time to pause in our work, come together as a community, and enjoy what has ripened in the sun of summer and will nourish us through the coming seasons of diminishing light. Lugh, the Sun God, Trickster Warrior, Wise and Just, God of the Arts, and of Life itself, held a feast at the beginning of the first harvest in honor of his foster mother and Earth Goddess who established the first grain fields and died in doing so. Let us sing, dance, and be merry, for joy is an act of resistance and antidote to fearfulness. Join us for a potluck feast after the ritual.
